Artist Study

Education should prepare a child to use his aesthetic sense. Through artist study, we aim to furnish the child's mind with whole galleries of beautiful paintings to shape the thought life and the imagination. We enjoy six paintings from one artist each term.

Composer Study

As Mason wrote, "Many great men have put their beautiful thoughts, not into books, or pictures, or buildings, but into musical score." We study classical music to train the ear to hear beautiful ideas and delight in music. We will study one composer each term.

Recitation

Recitation is not the same as memorization. Reading, returning to, remembering, and sharing a recitation teaches a child how to dwell on living ideas and speak well. Every child is invited to share a personally chosen piece weekly but no child is required to share in front of the group.

Hymns & Folk Songs

Singing together is one way to unite our children with the rich history of past generations and to one another. A certain camaraderie exists between those who share a sung story, and we need a storehouse from which to draw that convey truth, goodness, and beauty.

Kinderleben (ages 4-5, Grade K) meet in their own classroom to enjoy fairy tales, art and handicrafts, music study, recitation, and free play.

Kinderleben

Our littles (0-3) are also given a "feast" during their time at A Sacred Education! While they enjoy ample free play, they will also be introduced to classical music, listen to a living picture book, and hear poetry from Beatrix Potter.
