Who are we?

We are a Classical Charlotte Mason co-op in Silsbee, Texas, for families with children from baby to 9th grade. We believe to educate a person is to cultivate virtue and wisdom by nourishing the whole child with truth, goodness, and beauty so that, in Christ, a child is able to know, glorify, and enjoy God.

Classical education is concerned with the mind, but also the heart and body. Engaging the whole child —mind, body, and spirit - forms all parts of the image bearer, showing the child the relationship between himself and God, himself and others, and himself and the universe. Practically, this looks like introducing children to ideas through great books, beautiful art, excellent music, and rich traditions. We train the eye to observe, the mind to attend, the heart to feel, and the body to act. This is education.

A Sacred Education equips and enriches the lives of its families by providing a "common subjects" curriculum within a cooperative community wherein we serve one another and delight in learning together about God's world. Every mother shares her gifts to benefit the co-op, and every child -even a younger sibling— is invited to participate in either the Forms, Kinderleben, or Babyleben classes.

Charlotte Mason wrote, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God shall man live,—whether it be spoken in the way of some truth of religion, poem, picture, scientific discovery, or literary expression; by these things men live and in all such is the life of the spirit.”

May every child in A Sacred Education Co-op know the Light of the world by these things and the life of the Spirit.
